At Bambienti we appreciate that people in rural communities across the planet have throughout history drawn upon local timber resources for shelter and as a means of earning a living.

We believe that an ongoing, almost insatiable demand for timber based products can encourage illegal logging and result in the degradation of land and those communities who depend upon it.

Bamboo is one of the few sustainable materials that is readily available to small artisan type producers and can support them in regenerating both their land and their communities whilst maintaining an independent way of life.

We are lucky to be able to work with some truly gifted people in the production of our furniture, interiors and accessories. We believe that these talented people should work in clean and safe conditions. As a general rule of thumb we prefer to work with family run, small and medium sized workshops in preference to the larger factories. We believe that these environments are more likely to inspire creativity and less likely to inhibit, frustrate and marginalize workers.

We seek to ensure that our activities are carried out in balance with the local communities surrounding them. We make regular checks to ensure that local forests are not harmed by those planting and harvesting Bamboo on our behalf.

Wage rates vary from place to place making a standard policy somewhat complicated to apply. However we do assess the wage rates within a workshop in relation to the local community before committing to a partnership. We aim to ensure that staff are paid above the average for the area and the skill type. Our selection policy aiming towards family orientated workshops is designed to ensure that there is a more equitable approach to wages with benefits enjoyed by all.
